My Approach to Family Photography

My Style

Raw nostalgia in subtle cinematic tones is what I am all about. Real moments. Genuine interactions. You won’t find super cheesy happy-snaps here. If you’re wondering what on earth that means, check out my blog here and let the photos fill in the blanks.

I’m a big believer that a series of curated images add up to much more than a single image ever could be on it’s own, so I always aim to tell a story with my work.

My Approach

Improvised, and instinctive. I like to react to what’s in front of me rather than repeating the same pre-conceived approach. Every family unit is different so I strive to dig into that and show it off. I want to deliver unique images that depict something natural and real. Calm, patient and fun is how I would describe how I approach photography in a practical sense. I’m extremely focused on what I am doing artistically, but I’m always the least stressed out person at a session.

There’s nothing to be gained by forcing children to do things they don’t want to do. Let’s face it, that approach always results in awful photos and an awful time for everyone. Over the years I have developed an iron-clad level of patience and understanding when it comes to kids and I go to great lengths to create a safe, relaxed, understanding environment at all times.

One simple package:

$1200 (Mates rates for all 2026 sessions $900)

60 minute photography session on location
All edited high resolution files* (downloadable)
Secure online gallery and print store

*Approximately 80+ images in colour and black and white (usually more)

Contact me here and tell me as much info as you can. Once I have your enquiry, I will reply with a comprehensive information guide including package options and pricing. If you like what you see, booking a session involves paying a 50% retainer (this counts towards your eventual package) and signing a simple online digital contract. Once the payment has been made and the contract is signed, an online questionnaire will be delivered to your email address to begin the planning process.
